Despite its great popularity with tourists, La Manga del Mar Menor (Costa Calida) has a surprisingly limited number of really good restaurants. The cafes, bars and restaurants in La Manga itself are not outstanding, and even old favourites like Borsellino (see below) seem to have let standards slip recently. Nevertheless, there are some excellent restaurants just a short drive away. The two seas on either side of La Manga, Mar Menor and Mar Mayor, provide the local restaurants with delicious fresh fish and seafood, some of it quite unique to this area of Spain.

Miramar Pº del Puerto, 14 Cabo de Palos Tel:v968 563 033 |
One of the area's most popular restaurants in Cabo de Palos, just at the entrance of La Manga. Located next to the busy little fishing harbour, the views of the Mediterranean sea from the restaurant are stunning. Traditional cuisine based on fish, shellfish and seafood rice dishes. Very good quality produce, well-cooked and presented. Service can be a bit slow. |
Borsalino Urbanización Babilonia Gran Vía Salida 18 La Manga 968 563 131 |
Restaurant specialising in French cuisine with a lovely terrace overlooking the sea where it is a delight to dine on Summer evenings. We have seen a general decline however in recent years both in the standards of service and the quality of food. Nevertheless it still remains your best bet if you are staying on La Manga and want to walk there and back and prices are reasonable. |
El
Mosqui Subida al Faro, 50 Cabo de Palos Tel: 968 564 563 |
Famous for its calderos, a rice dish made with fish stock and, unlike most rice and paella dishes, served before the stock has evaporated, almost as a rice-fish soup. Not for the delicate eater, caldero has quite a strong fishy taste. But if you are adventurous and enjoy seafood, El Mosqui is your best bet. Simple restaurant, good service, very popular with locals and quite cheap prices. |
José
María-Los Churrascos |
This is our favourite restaurant in this area, and if you are staying near La Manga do go and visit. Very popular with locals and visitors, José María specialises in seafood, with the best king prawns and freshest fish you are likely to ever try. Very reasonable prices (the menu de degustación, with a sample of the restaurant's most emblematic dishes, costs just 35 euros), an excellent wine list, friendly and quick service and mouth-watering desserts make this one of the restaurants highly recommended by Euroresidentes. See further description in Spanish, José María-Los Churrascos |
Restaurant
La Casa del Reloj |
Interesting, friendly restaurant, very popular with British and German tourists and residents in the area. Set in a 19th Century house with some fascinating corners decorated with paintings, sculptures and antiques. Specialises in rice cooked over a wood fire, grilled meat and seafood dishes. |
Amapola Hyatt Regency La Manga Los Belones 968 331 234 |
Set in the Hotel Hyatt overlooking La Manga golf course with views of the greens and, further beyond, the Mar Menor and Mediterranean seas. Good quality, modern cuisine with show cooking where dishes are prepared infront of the clients. Very good wine-list and professional service characteristic of the hotel. |
