1. Peel
and remove the cores from the apples leaving them whole
2. Place the apples in a baking dish a fill the hollows with the chopped almonds
if using
3. Add a tsp of brown sugar to each apple and
lightly sprinkle with the cinnamon powder topping with a tsp of butter
4. Pour the wine over the apples and place in a preheated oven (200 degrees) until
the apples are cooked (length of time depends on size of apples) usually about
25 mins
5. Can be served hot or cold
Tips and ideas:
- Use
dry white wine
- If you can, use soft brown sugar or honey
- You can
also fill the apple hollows with pine nuts and/or raisins
- Serve with
whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
